DRMC can help organizations and countries assess and improve risk governance within their risk management institutions and other risk related decision making bodies. In particular, DRMC helps develop indicators to measure the transparency, degree of participation and accountability in the decision making process related to risk assessments, risk reduction and the whole phases of disaster risk management. In doing so, DRMC takes into account the socio-cultural dimension of risk including how risk is being perceived by various stakeholders and key players.DRMC also helps institutions develop Risk governance frameworks based on international guidance for the development of comprehensive methodologies to cope with risks. The framework is flexible enough and considers both physical and socio-cultural dimensions of risk as fundamental pillars of the risk governance process. Integrated within the framework are scientific, economic, social and cultural aspects and effective engagement of stakeholders.
